PETALING JAYA: MIC deputy president Datuk Seri S Subramaniam (pix) has warned all MIC members that a planned Central Working Committee (CWC) 2009 meeting called by Datuk Seri G Palanivel's camp today is illegal and they should avoid it.
Palanivel has called for a meeting to be held today at the Pullman Hotel in Putrajaya at 5pm. This comes after his closed door meeting with Prime Minister Datuk Seri Najib Abdul Razak at the premier's office two days ago.
This is the first time Palanivel has acknowledged the 2009 CWC since the Registrar of Societies (RoS) had ruled out the 2013 CWC, saying that it was elected amidst irregularities.

Subramaniam has labelled today's meeting as an "illegal" and called by a non-member".
Subramaniam has maintained that Palanivel has lost his party membership because he dragged the party's affairs to court when he challenged the RoS directive for the party to hold re-elections.
"I urge innocent members not to be trapped participating in an illegal meeting. Palanivel has lost his membership on Feb 24. Hence this is an illegal meeting. I request all MIC members to ignore all statements about this meeting," he said in a statement.

"The CWC 2009 recognised by RoS has initiated all measures to expedite the conducting of party elections in compliance with RoS directions and to quickly bring the party to normality," Subramaniam said.
"It is an unfortunate tragedy that some ex leaders of MIC have through their own irresponsible act brought the party to this unfortunate state," he added.
