KUALA LUMPUR: The Thai police deputy chief will visit Malaysia on July 2 for discussions on further legal actions to be taken against Xavier Andre Justo, a former executive of PetroSaudi International Ltd (PetroSaudi).
Inspector-General of Police Tan Sri Khalid Abu Bakar (pix) told a press conference today that they have also sought permission from the Thai police to take a statement from Justo.
"I have made a request to Thai police to take a statement from the subject (Justo) before any relevant actions are taken," Khalid told reporters after distributing Raya cookies to police officers at the Federal police headquarters.
He said they would have to wait for Thai police to finish their interrogation first. "We are in close contact with them," he added.
Khalid also said they were considering whether to seek the extradition of Justo to Malaysia.
Justo was arrested on June 22 at his home in Thailand for allegedly blackmailing PetroSaudi over its dealings with 1Malaysia Development Berhad.
The arrest was made by the Crime Suppression Division of the Royal Thai Police. Justo was charged with attempted blackmail and extortion against the Saudi-based oil and gas company.
On Majlis Amanah Rakyat (Mara) Inc alleged involvement in over-priced property deals in Melbourne, Australia, Khalid said the whole investigations was being conducted by the Malaysia Anti-Corruption Commission (MACC).
"We did not find any criminal breach of trust (CBT) elements involved in this case. So far, the Commercial Crime Investigations Department will not be in charge. It is solely investigated by MACC," he added.
