It is just 'logical assumption'

PUTRAJAYA: The Home Affairs Ministry claimed today that the government came to a "logical assumption" that Xavier Justo, the former director of PetroSaudi International (PSI) tampered with and doctored documents in the company's deal with the controversial 1Malaysia Development Berhad (1MDB).
Deputy Home Minister Wan Junaidi Tuanku Jaafar said that the investigating authority, which is the Thai Police, will not make any speculation on the case as it will jeopardise the credibility of the investigations.
"The investigating authority will not make any speculation on the case, it will be in their documents and it will be known when they go to court, to protect the credibility of the case," he said.
"It is very simple, the person arrested was Gusto and the document seems to be from him, we cannot assume anything else other than he had tampered with the documents," he said.
He alluded to the fact that until the Thai authorities come out with their investigation, everything else is just speculation and assumption.
"Everything that we do and say here is based on logical assumption on how it could have happened," said Junaidi.
Junaidi said that Malaysian Police and authorities will support the Thai Police in their investigations into the case.
"What we are emphasising is that the police in Malaysia will at any time support the Thai authorities in their investigations," he said.
Justo, a Swiss national who resides in Thailand, was accused of attempting to extort RM10 million from PetroSaudi over the release of incriminating documents.
It was reported last week that an anonymous source from cyber security firm Protection Group International (PGI) said that these documents between PetroSaudi and 1MDB had been doctored in a bid to tarnish the joint venture.
