Two men charged with causing death of Syrian national

    KUALA LUMPUR: A hostel supervisor were among two men charged in the Sessions Court here today with causing the death of a Syrian national last month.

    Mohd Nasir Mohd Salim @ Halim, 32, who is the hostel supervisor, and an unemployed, Shahibul Iqmal Khairol, 19, however, pleaded not guilty to the charge.

    The two men, and eight others still at large, are charged with causing the death of Alkhunaini Naif Abdullah, 30, at the five-foot path of the Main Room Shop, Jalan Doraisamy, Dang Wangi here at 5am last June 16.

    The charge, under Section 304(a) of the Penal Code and read together with Section 149 of the same law, carries a maximum jail of 30 years and is liable to fine, if found guilty.

    Judge Azman Ahmad allowed the accused bail of RM20,000 with one surety each and ordered them to surrender their passports to the court.
    They were also required to report themselves at a police station on the first week of every month and to not intimidate witnesses in the case.

    The court set Aug 3 for mention.

    The prosecution was conducted by deputy public prosecutor Norazlin Mohamad Yusoff, while lawyers Idris Seydalavi and Fahmi Adilah represented Mohd Nasir and Shahibul Iqmal, respectively. – Bernama
