IPOH: Newly appointed Ipoh city mayor Datuk Zamri Man, 48, could probably be the youngest candidate for the post but he is willing to shoulder the heavy responsibility.
"Maybe I have not have enough experience in managing a city but with the assistance of the experienced head of departments the task will be made easier," he told reporters after clocking in at his office at the city council building here today.
He said the cooperation of councillors and feedback from the public and NGOs were equally important to carry out his duties effectively.
Zamri, who succeeded Datuk Harun Rawi who retired on June 30, said the council needs to strengthen the existing policies and programmes in line with the state's development vision lined out under Perak Amanjaya.
"Like other local authorities one of my focus is on cleanliness ... we have to improve and promote Ipoh as one of the best cities to live in a conducive environment," he added.
He also wants to foster closer rapport with the people and NGOs by holding discussions with them.
'The public must give us feedback and raise their problems with the council, otherwise the shortcomings will not be solved."
