350 volunteers to help Kelantan firemen during Aidilfitri

PASIR PUTEH: The Kelantan Fire and Rescue Department is to get the services of 350 trained volunteers to help its 572 firemen in road accident rescue efforts during the Aidilfitri this month.
Its director, assistant commissioner Azmi Osman, said they would serve one week before and one week after Aidilfitri under 'Ops Raya'.
"All the state and federal highways would be congested when many Kelantan folks who are outside the state return to be with their families for Aidilfitri," he told reporters after a breaking-of-fast event at the Pasir Puteh Fire and Rescue Office here last night.
Azmi said among the federal roads which were expected to be congested were the Gua Musang-Kuala Krai-Kota Baharu road, the Jeli-Gaal road and the Pasir Puteh-Kota Baru road.
He said extra focus would be given to the Gua Musang-Kuala Krai-Kota Baru road where the congestion was expected to be the worst because the east coast rail service had yet to resume after the tracks were damaged during the floods last December. – Bernama
