Kedah police seize pistol, drugs in two separate raids

    ALOR STAR: Kedah police seized a Revolver and nine slabs of compressed marijuana weighing 8.8kg in two separate incidents in Changloon, near the Malaysia-Thailand border on Friday.

    Kedah police chief Datuk Zamri Yahya said during Ops Cantas Khas with the assistance of police from Bukit Aman at about 2.30pm, a .38 Smith & Wesson revolver was found in the sling bag on one suspect and an imitation pistol with bullets was seized from another who were in a Perodua Myvi car.

    "Police are investigating if the seized pistol was meant for robbery," he told reporters at the Kedah Police Contingent Headquarters, here today.

    Both men, aged between 20 and 30, from Penang and Selangor were arrested after a high speed car chase from the Changloon-Kubang Pasu Highway to a car wash centre in the city, he said.

    Meanwhile, Zamri said police arrested three suspects aged between 30 and 47, and seized marijuana weighing 8.8kg in a second operation held at KM16 North-South Expressway near the Rural Transformation Centre in Changloon at about 10pm, yesterday.

    He said the Kedah Narcotics Crime Investigation Department team had stopped a Proton Wira car at the location for inspection and found nine slabs of the compressed marijuana worth RM27,000.

    "Two of the suspects tested positive for drugs and all suspects will be remanded until July 11 in the case investigated under Section 39B of the Dangerous Drugs Act 1952," he said. – Bernama
