No link between AmBank founder's death and 1MDB controversy: IGP

KUALA LUMPUR: Police have denied there is a link between the murder of AmBank founder Hussain Ahmad Najadi and the alleged transfer of US$700 million into the personal accounts of Prime Minister Datuk Seri Najib Abdul Razak.
Inspector-General of Police Tan Sri Khalid Abu Bakar said the killer has been convicted and police knew the motive behind the murder.
"This issue was reported by a blog. It was an irresponsible act. People had made up the story and they are purposely disseminating incorrect news. It's untrue and slanderous. We are investigating it and action will be taken against those involved.
"I hereby confirm that there was no report lodged by Hussain Najadi a day before he was shot," Khalid told a press conference after the launch of "Ops Selamat 7/2015" at KL Sentral today.
Khalid advised the public and netizens to be careful when commenting on national controversial issues such as the 1Malaysia Development Berhad (1MDB) as they can be investigated for spreading false news.
On July 29, 2013, Hussain, 75, was shot dead at a parking lot while his wife was seriously injured.
On Tuesday, DAP supremo Lim Kit Siang in a statement said police have to reopen the case to help find the truth of the link between the murder and the 1MDB issues.
