Govt will not halt housing loan facility for civil servants

KUALA LUMPUR: The government will not stop the housing loan facility for civil servants as reported by an online television station recently.

"The Finance Ministry regrets that the news was broadcast without first seeking verification," said secretary-general, Tan Sri Dr Mohd Irwan Serigar Abdullah.

The report stated that the move by the government was to strengthen the country's fiscal position.

"On the contrary, the government will improve the financing facility for housing loans for civil servants.

"In this regard, the government has established a statutory body, the Public Sector Home Financing Board (LPPSA) under the Finance Ministry to undertake all matters related to housing loans for civil servants," Mohd Irwan said.

He also said the LPPSA would ensure greater efficiency in the way housing loans are managed with all terms and conditions being maintained. – Bernama
