GEORGE TOWN: Being visually impaired is no barrier to pursuing one's dreams, and 21-year-old Razlan Ibrahim Mukhtar is a prime example of what one can achieve with perseverance and determination.
On July 19, the eldest of four siblings is scheduled to leave for Adelaide, Australia to pursue a degree in Business Innovation and Entrepreneurship at the University of South Australia.
Razlan's dream of pursuing his degree was made possible by a full scholarship awwarded by Maxis Malaysia and several kind hearted individuals who have come forward to provide braille equipment to facilitate his studies.
The visually impaired youth who recently completed his three-year Diploma in Business Studies course at UiTM in Perlis, said he aspires to be an entrepreneur.
During a press conference at the St Nicholas Home today, Razlan expressed excitement at his impending trip and thanked all quarters who came forward to make this a reality.
"I hope I can contribute to the nation, especially to the visually impaired community once I have gained sufficient knowledge and experience," he said.
Pulau Tikus assemblyman Yap Soo Huey and St. Nicholas Home executive director Daniel Soon were also present at today's press conference.
