IGP: Police to call up Malaysians over latest Justo disclosure
KUALA LUMPUR: Several Malaysians will be asked to give statements to the police following the latest disclosure by the Royal Thai Police in their investigation of Xavier Andre Justo over his alleged blackmail of his ex-employer PetroSaudi International Ltd, said Inspector-General of Police Tan Sri Khalid Abu Bakar.
He said the disclosure by the Thai police was serious and shocking and that it had been considered a police report and an investigation had been initiated.
"We will be calling shortly everyone who has been identified by the Thai police.
"I hope they will give their full cooperation, otherwise we will be forced to arrest and remand them," he said when approached at the Aidilfitri open house in Bukit Aman.
Also present was Home Minister Datuk Seri Dr Ahmad Zahid Hamidi.
Thai police said yesterday that Swiss national Justo had allegedly met with individuals believed to be from the Malaysian opposition at a hotel in Singapore and had allegedly sold them confidential company information.
Royal Thai Police spokesman Pol Lt Gen Prawut Thavornsiri was quoted as saying that Thai police knew the identity of the people whom Justo had met based on his own admission as well as evidence collected and details from sources such as Justo's mobile phone and personal computer.
Khalid said the Royal Malaysia Police would cooperate with the Royal Thai Police in investigating the matter. Meanwhile, Dr Ahmad Zahid, asked to comment on the developments, said he left it to the police to undertake the investigation.
Thai police arrested Justo on June 22 for allegedly blackmailing PetroSaudi International, an international company based in Saudi Arabia, that has become the focus over a controversy involving Malaysian government investment company 1Malaysia Development Berhad (1MDB).
Following the alleged sale of the confidential information, several emails and documents were published by the Sarawak Report news portal that led to accusations against 1MDB. – Bernama
