Hari Raya open house at Istana Negara

KUALA LUMPUR: Thousands turned up at the Istana Negara on the first day of Hari Raya Aidilfitri to attend the Hari Raya Open House hosted by the The Yang di-Pertuan Agong, Tuanku Abdul Halim Mu'adzam Shah.
Malaysians and foreigners from all walks of life had made their way to the palace since 9am at the covered open space of the palace grounds, and were treated with Hari Raya delights including rendang, satay, lemang, and ais kacang.
Tuanku Abdul Halim and consort Raja Permaisuri Agong, Tuanku Hajah Haminah appeared before dignitaries, including foreign ambassadors and cabinet ministers at about 10am.
Among those present were former Prime Minister Tun Dr Mahathir Mohamad and wife Tun Dr Siti Hasmah Mohamad Ali, Transport Minister Liow Tiong Lai, Ministers in the Prime Ministers Datuk Seri Idris Jala and Datuk Paul Low, Deputy Home Minister Datuk Seri Dr Wan Junaidi Wan Tuanku Jaafar, Health Minister Datuk Seri Dr S. Subramaniam and former minister Datuk Seri S. Samy Vellu.
Later, members of the public had the opportunity to meet and greet Tuanku Abdul Halim and consort Tuanku Hajah Haminah at the palace, and they were also given Hari Raya goodies before they departed from the festive event.
Earlier in the day, the Yang di-Pertuan Agong and Hajah Haminah had performed Aidilfitri prayers at the National Mosque together with more than 10,000 worshippers.
Also present at the event were Prime Minister Datuk Seri Najib Abdul Razak and Deputy Prime Minister Tan Sri Muhyiddin Yassin with their wives, Datin Seri Rosmah Mansor and Puan Sri Noorainee Abdul Rahman, respectively.
