AirAsia resumes flight to Maldives

PETALING JAYA: AirAsia will resume flights from Kuala Lumpur to Maldives from Oct 22, some 19 months after its subsidiary, AirAsia X, suspended services to the popular holiday archipelago due to challenging business conditions.
AirAsia will fly direct to Male three times weekly with the airline code "AK".
"AirAsia is proud to announce that we will commence our flights to Maldives from Oct 22, making us the only airline that flies direct to Maldives from Kuala Lumpur, offering three times weekly flights to this idyllic island destination," AirAsia head of commercial Spencer Lee said in a statement yesterday.
He said Maldives tops the list of 'must-visit' destinations and the requests for flights there have been extremely overwhelming.
Lee said the flight schedule for the Kuala Lumpur-Maldives route allows travelers from other regions such as Korea, Japan, China, Hong Kong, Thailand and Australia to connect easily using its Fly-Thru service.
"Among the destinations which offers Fly-Thru connectivity to Maldives include Incheon, Osaka, Hong Kong, Shenzhen, Bangkok, Penang and Gold Coast," he added.
