Datasonic submits proposals for passport, ICT solutions to Home Ministry

    PETALING JAYA: Datasonic Group Bhd, which recently was queried by Bursa Malaysia over its unusual market activity, announced that it has submitted three proposals to the Ministry of Home Affairs, in relation to passport and Information and Communications Technology (ICT) solutions.
    The ICT solutions provider told the stock exchange last Friday, the discussions are still in a state of flux at this juncture.
    The company said it would make the necessary announcement(s) once the proposal(s) have been awarded to the company.
    "The board of directors wishes to highlight that the possible business prospects may or may not materialise," it added.
    On July 23, 2015, Datasonic was queried by Bursa Malaysia following the sharp rise in its share price and high volume traded during the week.
    The company noted that it was not aware of any rumour or report concerning the business and affairs of the group, as well as any other possible explanation that may account for the trading activity.
    The counter closed lower 2.24% or 3 sen last Friday, with some 10.24 million shares done at prices ranging from RM1.28 to RM1.35.
    Datasonic's ICT solutions include smart card personalization such as secure ID or chip-based credit/debit bank cards.
