BN needs to clarify issues like 1MDB to regain rakyat's trust: Mah

PETALING JAYA: Gerakan president Datuk Mah Siew Keong today urged Barisan Nasional to work harder to regain the rakyat's trust by clarifying issues like 1Malaysia Development Berhad (1MDB) meticulously.
Mah's advice comes after Deputy Prime Minister Tan Sri Muhyiddin Yassin in his speech during the Umno Cheras division meeting on Sunday voiced his opinion on the debt-ridden 1MDB and suspension of The Edge publications on their reporting of the 1MDB controversy.
"I believe the advice by Muhyiddin is timely. There are too many issues that need to be addressed," he said when contacted by theSun.
"BN also needs to put extra effort to explain the 1MDB issue truthfully in order to get closer to the rakyat and BN should not get influenced easily by 'certain people'," he added.
Mah also hoped the Auditor-General's interim report on the 1MDB will be released soon and be made public to clear the air.
"When the interim report is finalised, this episode (1MDB) will be over and we can start to focus on achieving the aims of the 11th Malaysia Plan (11MP)," he said.
