GEORGE TOWN: Chief Minister Lim Guan Eng agrees with Deputy Prime Minister Tan Sri Muhyiddin Yassin who predicted Barisan Nasional (BN) will lose if the general elections were held now due to controversy surrounding sovereign strategic fund 1Malaysia Development Berhad (1MDB).

He also added that 1MDB was not the only banana skin BN would face, adding that anger over the Goods and Services Tax (GST) will be a factor too.

He said both these matters have angered the voters with GST eating into disposable income and 1MDB which he said caused the fall in the value of the ringgit.

"These are the factors which will make BN lose, the people are fed up with the economic failures and financial scandals.

"I also feel that not only will BN lose, parties which support 1MDB, like PAS will also lose, this is an omen for PAS," he said in a press conference today.

Muhyiddin made the shocking admission on Sunday night while speaking at the closing ceremony of the Umno Cheras division meeting.

"If nothing is done now, BN will lose. We are running out of time," he had said.
