Fisherman gets 12 years behind bars for drug possession

    IPOH: A fisherman was sentenced to prison for 12 years by the High Court, here, today on two charges of possessing methampetamine and ketamine, three years ago.

    Judicial Commissioner S. M. Komathy Suppiah handed down the sentence to Lim Eng Seong, 49, after he pleaded guilty to the two charges.

    Lim was charged with having in his possession 678.2g of methamphetamine in front of Prima Ipoh Condo, Jalan Lassam, here, about 10pm on Nov 10, 2012.

    He was also charged with being in possession of 326.5g of Ketamine on the same date, time and location.

    Lim was represented by counsel Pardeep Singh and Nanthan Krishnan while the prosecution was conducted by deputy public prosecutor Harris Ong Mohd Jeffrey Ong.

    The accused is currently serving a prison sentence pending appeal against his death sentence after being found guilty of firing at the police during his arrest in January 2006. – Bernama
