PETALING JAYA: Original photographs from the press coverage of the recent earthquakes in Nepal are to be sold at a charity photo exhibition from Saturday (Aug1) till Aug 9.
Proceeds from the exhibition will go to Next Generation Nepal (NGN), an NGO combating child trafficking in the country.
The exhibition, themed "Nepalese Resilience" features the work of theSun photographer Zulfadhli Zaki, and a humanitarian volunteer Baudouin Nach, in the aftermath of the earthquakes.
Largely sponsored by theSun Cares Fund, the exhibition showcases the real situation in Nepal as well as its people's strong willpower and resilience in coping with the disaster.
The photos tell the story of the amazing people the duo met during their assignment.
"For me, it was incredible to see the strong determination in the eyes of the Nepalese I encountered, and their ability to deal with the disaster and go on with their daily lives despite two major earthquakes which claimed more than 9,000 lives and injured over 26,000," said Zulfadhli.
"No words can explain how we felt when we witnessed the misery and chaos that the back-to-back earthquakes inflicted on the Nepalese," he said.
"We decided that there is no better way to let people learn about the situation there than through this exhibition. After all, it is said that a picture speaks a thousand words," he added.
theSun managing editor Freddie Ng urged caring individuals and corporations to visit the exhibition and support the fund-raising project by buying a photograph or two.
Representatives of corporations are invited to a private viewing of the exhibition at Feeka Coffee Roasters in Bukit Bintang, Kuala Lumpur, from 2pm to 5pm tomorrow.
It will be open to the public from 9am to 10pm daily from Aug 2 to 10.
