Singaporean container driver arrested on assault charges at Johor Customs

    JOHOR BARU: A Singaporean container driver was arrested on Tuesday night for attacking a Malaysian at the Johor Customs, Quarantine and Immigration Complex at the Second Link.
    Initial investigations showed that the suspect, 61, had followed the 41-year-old victim from Singapore, crossed the Second Link and attacked the victim at the CIQ complex about 10pm.
    The victim, 41, from Skudai, suffered injuries on the face and was sent to Hospital Sultanah Aminah for treatment.
    He and the suspect both worked in Singapore.
    Nusajaya police chief Supt Noor Hashim Mohamad said this at the Hari Aildifitri event at the Johor police headquarters here today.
    "Initial investigation showed the duo have debt disputes. The case will be investigated under Section 324 of the Penal Code for causing hurt using dangerous weapon."he said.
    Police also recovered a metal weapon from the suspect.
    The suspect has been remanded until today.
