Five major roads closed for Kuala Lumpur City Grand Prix

PETALING JAYA: In view of the Kuala Lumpur City Grand Prix, those working around the golden triangle during the race times are encouraged to use public transportation to and from their working places.
Kuala Lumpur mayor Datuk Mohd Amin Nordin said the affected roads will be closed from 6am to 6pm from August 7 to 9.
"We encourage the public to use public transportation to avoid traffic jams as several roads will be closed for the event," he said.
"Those who commute using rail services can alight at KLCC or Dang Wangi LRT stations and Bukit Nanas and Raja Chulan Monorail stations," he added.
The five major affected roads are Jalan Ampang, Jalan Sultan Ismail, Jalan Raja Chulan, Jalan Perak and Jalan P. Ramlee.
The event will see drivers zip through a 3.2km temporary "Grade 3" circuit with 16 turns along well-known areas of the capital city. It is expected to woo more than 100,000 people and 16,000 foreign tourists, boosting the national capital's economy significantly.
"We have allocated 500 employees from the police and fire rescue teams to work during the race to assist if case of any mishap" Mohd Amin said.
"To make sure the event run efficiently, KL City Grand Prix will also cooperate with the Kuala Lumpur City Hall (DBKL), police, Malaysian People's Volunteer Corps (Rela), and their own security team," he added.
Mohd Amin added that DBKL had engaged Prasarana and the Land Public Transport Commission (SPAD) to make all the necessary arrangements.
KL City Grand Prix will also introduce the 'safari' concept where the public can get the chance to communicate with the racers' teams and touch the racing cars.
The event is expected to see various GT race car models such as the Lamborghini Super Cup, Formula Masters, Porsche Carrera Cup and Audi R8 LMS Cup apart from a demonstration of the five best V8 supercar series teams.
"Another attraction will be the first demonstration ever by V8 Supercars in Malaysia, which is the third most popular motor racing in the world," he said.
The ticket prices for the P. Ramlee Pit Grandstand is RM450, Ampang Grandstand, Sultan Ismail Grandstand and Perak Grandstand for RM350.
