JOHOR BARU: About 300 house owners in Kim Teng Park have appealed to the state government to stop acquisition of their home land.
Kim Teng Park residential committee president, K.Vellasamy said, residents were worried about the intended acquisition of their homes by City Centre Transformation (JB) Sdn Bhd.
He said, Kim Teng Park is the oldest housing estate in Johor Baru with residents staying for more than 50-years.
"Some of the residents are now aged between 50 to 80-years old and some are sick. It is impossible for them to get a housing loan from a bank at this age," he added.
He said all the senior citizens have contributed one way or another towards the nation building during their younger days and if the land is taken, then they would become "Internally Displaced Persons" in their old age.
Kim Teng Park is the nearest housing estate in Johor Baru downtown and has about 280 houses and 15 shop-lots.
Member of Parliament for Johor Baru, Tan Sri Shahrir Abdul Samad who was present at the press conference said he will discuss with the state government on the matter.
Johor State Gazette Notification dated May 21, 2015 stated that Johor state authority had issued notice for the intended acquisition.
