Abdul Rahman dares opposition to reveal political funds

KUALA LUMPUR: The people will get clearer information when the proposal to revive the ruling that political parties disclose the sources of their funds is implemented, said Umno Supreme Council member Datuk Abdul Rahman Dahlan.
He said the move must be carried out by each party in the country so as to dispel any negative assumptions and regain the confidence of the people.
Abdul Rahman, who is Barisan Nasional's strategic communications director, said Prime Minister Datuk Seri Najib Abdul Razak had mentioned the revival of the ruling, and it was now up to the opposition parties to take up the challenge.
"There are many accusations that the opposition have been accepting funds from millionaire George Soros. This is the time they should reveal the source of their political funds.
"If they refuse, do not pressure Umno to reveal. Correct your own party. The public also want to know where they get their funds," he told reporters after officiating at the Umno Bandar Tun Razak division Youth delegates conference here today.
Earlier in his speech, Abdul Rahman, who is also urban well-being, housing and local government minister, challenged Petaling Jaya Utara MP Tony Pua to show evidence to back all the accusations he had made against the prime minister in the 1Malaysia Development Bhd (1MDB) issue.
"If it is true that the prime minister is involved, we will not wait for the opposition to go to the people, but we will do it ourselves. Do not talk without any evidence. If there is proof, then it is easy for us to take the matter to court," he said. – Bernama
