Mindef to build 30,000 houses

KUALA LUMPUR: The Defence Ministry (Mindef) will build 30,000 houses under the Rumah Keluarga Angkatan Tentera (RKAT) for armed forces personnel.
Its minister Datuk Seri Hishammuddin Hussien said his ministry is in the midst of preparing the blueprint to build the houses under the 11th and 12th Malaysian Plan.
"The ministry is planning to build 30,000 houses over a span of 10 years," Hishammuddin said when launching his ministry's monthly meeting at Mindef here.
He said the project will be presented to the public after proper planning has been carried out to ensure there are no misunderstandings later. On the project expenditure, he said his ministry would have to wait for Budget 2016.
He said RKAT is among five initiatives to ensure the future of national security. The other four focuses would be to improve assets readability and physical facilities, the ability to face non-traditional threats, to strengthen the innovation and commercialization of the industry and National Service transformation plan.
