KL Grand Prix: More trains will be provided, if needed

PETALING JAYA: The public need not worry about difficulties of travelling in and out of the city due to road closures to accommodate the inaugural Kuala Lumpur City Grand Prix taking place from Aug 7 to 9, according to Prasarana Malaysia Berhad.
Its Communications and Media Affairs senior manager Azhar Ghazali said that if the situation calls for it, Prasarana will provide an injection of trains to cater to the public travelling during these three days.
"This applies to all three of our rail services, the two LRT networks on the Ampang Line and Kelana Jaya Line, and the KL Monorail.
"For now, the services will go on as usual as per any other days. But if we see that there is a need, then we will add more train services," Azhar said when contacted by theSun.
Rapid Rail Chief Operating Officer Mohd Ariffin Idris also assured the public that congestion in trains will not be an issue, saying: "We are ready to add more trains to the maximum if there is a need to do so."
Kuala Lumpur Mayor Datuk Mohd Amin Nordin had on Aug 2, encouraged those working around the golden triangle during the race times to use public transportation to and from their working places.
Mohd Amin had announced the closure of five major roads, Jalan Ampang, Jalan Sultan Ismail, Jalan Raja Chulan, Jalan Perak and Jalan P. Ramlee, and said that the council had engaged Prasarana and the Land Public Transport Commission (SPAD) to make all the necessary arrangements.
Meanwhile, SPAD in a statement on July 28 said that stage bus services in the central business district in KL will be re-routed from 6am on Aug 7 to 11pm on Aug 9 to make way for the grand prix.
During the period, the affected buses will utilise existing bus stops that are available along the redirected routes to help commuters' access their service.
