KUALA LUMPUR: 1Malaysia Development Bhd (1MDB) has welcomed the Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission (MACC) statement that no funds from 1MDB were transferred to Prime Minister Datuk Seri Najib Abdul Razak.
"We have always maintained that the company has never provided any funds to the prime minister as per our media statement on July 3, 2015," said 1MDB president and group executive director Arul Kanda Kandasamy (pix).
The MACC said in a statement on Monday that it had found in its investigation that the RM2.6 billion allegedly deposited into an account of the prime minister came from donors and not 1MDB.
Arul slammed PKR secretary-general Rafizi Ramli for continuing his allegations about 1MDB funds going to the account of Najib.
Arul said in a statement today that Rafizi was being "irresponsible".
"This is despite 1MDB publishing on June 3, 2015 a summary of what the RM42 billion debt has been used for, information that is fully disclosed in 1MDB's audited accounts from March 31, 2010 to March 31, 2014," he said. – Bernama
