Special grant to benefit Bukit Gasing communities

PETALING JAYA: Residents in the Bukit Gasing constituency who want to do something for their local community but lack funding can now apply to the newly launched Bukit Gasing Community Activity Grant (CAG).
Bukit Gasing state assemblymen Rajiv Rishyakaran said CAG is meant to help residents' groups, non-governmental organisations and individuals realise their ideas that can benefit the community.
The proposed programme should be consistent with the community’s interest and needs, and directly benefit the residents, he told a press conference at his office today.
The maximum allocation per project is RM10,000 but Rajiv said not all applications will receive the full amount requested as it depends on the project.
He said applications can now be made with the deadline being the end of the month. The list of successful applicants will be announced in September and disbursement in October.
The application forms can be obtained from Rajiv's service centre, downloaded from his Facebook page or requested through email.
If CAG gets much public interest, he is looking to continue it next year with a possible higher allocation.
He said non-Bukit Gasing residents can also apply for the grant provided the programme benefits the Bukit Gasing community.
He said CAG will not fund activities like publicity and/ or marketing programmes for profit, scholarships, travel expenses, school field trips, any individual's medical or hospital bills or any activities with political undertones.
Rajiv will monitor the programmes by attending or participating in them to ensure there is no abuse of the grant.
