Wan Azizah shocked over MACC officers transfer

    KUALA LUMPUR: Parti Keadilan Rakyat (PKR) president Datuk Seri Dr. Wan Azizah Wan Ismail today expressed shock over the transfer of Datuk Bahri Mohamad Zin and Rohaizad Yaakob, of the Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission (MACC), after meeting several Opposition MPs, including herself.
    Bahri and Rohaizad hold the positions of MACC, special operations director and strategic communications director respectively.
    "I urge the authorities to provide an immediate explanation regarding the transfer of these two MACC officers in order that there would not be any perception that there has been a political interference," she said in a statement.
    Describing the transfer as a "punitive punishment" towards the two men, she said, it was akin a warning to them and other MACC officers.
    She added that due to MACC's continuous interference and threat towards its officers, she has directed PKR members to lodge a police report and hold a gathering at each of the commission's offices nationwide to show their solidarity for the officers.
    However, she did not mention when the gathering will take place.
    The MACC have not specifed the reason behind the transfer of their two officers.
