KUALA LUMPUR: Khairy Jamaluddin (pix) criticised the decision to transfer two Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission (MACC) senior officers to the Prime Minister's Department.
The Youth and Sports Minister urged for the "intimidation" towards the institution to be stopped as it could draw speculations and anger from the rakyat.
"The intimidation on MACC must be stopped. I cannot accept an attack on the institution such as this," he said.
"I saw the transfer of the two officers as very strange and disappointing, as if a planned intimidation to MACC that could weaken the institution," he told reporters after officiating the Malaysian Youth Council Annual General Assembly yesterday.
MACC Special Operations Division director Datuk Bahri Mohd Zin and Strategic Communications director Datuk Rohaizad Yaakob were transferred to the PM's Department begins with immediate effect.
Khairy said if such actions continued, the public's trust in the institution and the government would become "worse than what it is today".
"I was informed that one of the officers were transferred due to a personal fault for receiving a visit from the opposition party," he said.
"To me, this is very, very unfair," he added.
The Umno Youth chief said MACC must be allowed to perform its tasks without any hindrance.
"We have to take care of our institutions. Don't ruin all institutions in the country just because we have a specific agenda," he said.
"I am not willing to allow and let such thing to happen," he added.
