Moderate earthquake hits Tanimbar Islands

KUALA LUMPUR: A moderate earthquake measuring 5.3 on the Richter scale hit the Tanimbar Islands off Indonesia at 6.03am, this morning.
The Meteorological Department said the epicentre of the earthquake was at 7.1 degrees south latitude and 131.4 degrees east longitude, 518 km southeast of Ambon, Indonesia and 1,920 km southeast of Semporna, Sabah.
However the earthquake did not pose any threat of a tsunami, it added. – Bernama
