AirAsia X says person in management position authorised fictitious payments

PETALING JAYA: AirAsia X Bhd today announced that its internal and external auditors have recently discovered that certain payments have been made to a service provider between the period of 2010 to 2014 for services which are fictitious.
The long haul carrier told Bursa Malaysia, a forensic audit done by PwC Consulting Services Sdn Bhd found that the irregularities have been confined only to a sum of RM7.01 million.
The payments were authorised by a person in management position.
AirAsia X has sought legal advice on the possible courses of action the Company can take to recover the losses; lodged a police report and reviewed the current internal control process to ensure that similar transactions will not recur.
