Minor damage caused to tent at Fed House near Dataran Merdeka

KUALA LUMPUR: Police said a homemade explosive made from firecrackers blew up at the Federal House near Dataran Merdeka causing minor damage to a canvas tent.
It is learnt that the explosion at about 5pm punched a hole in the tent but did not cause injury to police personnel on duty nearby.
The area was off limits to the public.
Sources said police have yet to trace those responsible for the explosion.
On another matter, police also advised the public to refrain falling for rumours on social media of imminent violence that is expected to occur at the Bersih 4 rally.
Among the many rumours circulating was a false claim of a car and bus that was burned down by demonstrators at Petaling Street.
