Bersih 4: 25 protesters detained in Malacca, 1 held in Nilai

KUALA LUMPUR: Twenty five people in Malacca and one in Nilai have reportedly been detained by the police, according to Bersih 2.0 Facebook today.
The posting informed that these individuals were detained for wearing yellow t-shirts with logos that were against the directives of the home ministry.
It also reported that a bus from Bentong, Pahang carrying 30 participants heading for the rally were stopped from entering the city.
"We condemn these acts by the police that are using fear tactics to deter the public from attending the rally," read the status.
"We would like to stress that the rakyat has a right to assemble peacefully as provided in article 10 of the federal constitution," it went on.
It said that the police should regulate and give their cooperation to the rakyat to attend the rally in a peaceful manner.
"We believe that the rally will go on peacefully provided there is no provocation from the police," it said.
