NEW DELHI: Indian president Pranab Mukherjee (pix) has extended his greetings and felicitations to the government and people of Malaysia on its National Day celebration.
"On behalf of the government, the people of India and on my own behalf, I extend warm greetings and felicitations to you and to the people of Malaysia on the occasion of your National Day," he said in his message to the Yang di-Pertuan Agong, Tuanku Abdul Halim Mu'adzam Shah.
Pranab also said that the bilateral relations between India and Malaysia were marked by traditional friendship and cooperation in a number of areas of common interest.
"Our ties have strengthened substantively as we share the desire to deepen and broaden our multi-faceted relationship to our mutual benefit.
"While we have broken new grounds in our economic relations, vast untapped potential still exists in areas like defence and security, health and education and people-to-people contacts," he said in a statement today.
"We look forward to strengthening further our relations with Malaysia and working with you to advance regional cooperation." – Bernama
