GEORGE TOWN: Several men in a car are suspected to have been involved in shooting which killed a debt collector as he was riding a motorcycle from Jelutong to Gelugor today, police said.
Penang CID chief Datuk Zakaria Ahmad said the 31-year-old victim fell off the motorcycle and died at Jalan Sultan Azlan Shah after he was shot at close range at about 8.30am as he was on the way to meet an acquaintance.
He said Penang Hospital Department of Forensic Medicine head Datuk Dr Zahari Noor found several gunshot wounds on the victim's head and body.
Zakaria said the driver of a Rapid Penang bus heard what he thought were gunshots and, looking in a sideview mirror, saw a man fall off his motorcycle, and immediately called the police.
Police found a bullet mark on the rear of the bus, he said.
Zakaria appealed to eye-witnesses to contact any police station to assist in the investigation. – Bernama
