SERDANG: The government will send a RM65,000 bill to Bersih 4 organisers for cleaning up the city following the two day weekend rally, said Urban Wellbeing, Housing and Local Government Minister Datuk Abdul Rahman Dahlan.
He said this does not include the bill for minor damages on properties from Kuala Lumpur City Hall (DBKL).
“They have collected about RM1.5 million for the rally, so I urge (Bersih 2.0 chairman) Maria Chin Abdullah not to spend all the money they collected.
“We will send them the bill this week,” Abdul Rahman told a press conference after launching the mandatory solid waste separation programme at the Malaysia Agro Exposition Park here today.
He commended the police for the restraint approach they took at the rally and was thankful that there was no violence.
Abdul Rahman expressed grave disappointment on the appearance of former premier Tun Dr Mahathir Mohamad at the two-day rally, calling for the resignation of Prime Minister Datuk Seri Najib Abdul Razak.
“It showed his political manoeuvring. His accusations are mind boggling … I see a very angry person.
“When you are angry you don’t think straight. You tend to say things that you don’t mean,” he said.
Abdul Rahman said that Mahathir should take time and meet up with the ruling party and resolve matters.
