PETALING JAYA: The Federal Special Investigations Unit is probing an incident where two participants of the Bersih 4 rally were seen stepping on a poster of Prime Minister Datuk Seri Najib Abdul Razak and PAS president Datuk Seri Abdul Hadi Awang.
According to Kuala Lumpur Criminal Investigation Department (CID) chief SAC Datuk Zainuddin Ahmad, the case is being investigated under Section 505b of the Penal Code.
"We urge both the protesters who were seen in the picture to come immediately to Dang Wangi police headquarters to facilitate the investigations," said Zainuddin.
The incident allegedly took place at the pedestrian path near Dataran Merdeka.
Meanwhile, Bersih 2.0 steering committee chairman Maria Chin Abdullah confirmed that seven individuals including her will be summoned to the Federal police headquarters today.
"We will be questioned by police at Bukit Aman and we have to be there by 10.30am. The instruction came from the Federal police headquarters through somebody who passed it to us.
"They said we will be investigated under Section 120, 124C and 141 of the Penal Code," Maria told theSun.
Besides Maria, the others are Sarajun Huda, Masjaliza Hamzah, Farhana Halim, Fadiah Nadwa, Mandeep Singh and Adam Adli.
Meanwhile, Deputy Home Minister Datuk Nur Jazlan Mohamed said the Home Ministry will leave it to police to investigate and take action against Bersih 2.0 leaders for organising the rally.
Nur Jazlan said he is not aware of any planned action by police to haul up the organisers of the yellow movement that gathered for a 34-hour rally.
"We leave it to the police since the rally is still declared illegal. Police are responsible to take whatever action that is needed," he said at the lobby of Surian Tower after officiating the Malaysia Expatriate Talent Service Centre (MyExpats) today.
He commended police for handling the public rally well.
"Police have done well in handling the rally and they have done well without any incident. But it is still under illegal status and the police are investigating that," he added.
