Anina: 'I will continue to fight'

PETALING JAYA: Following her dismissal from Umno, former Langkawi Umno member Anina Saadudin maintained that she will continue fighting and that it was not the end for her.
Taking to Facebook to express her feelings, Anina said her battle and struggle was far from over, adding: "God willing, I will continue to fight".
Anina had on Aug 28 filed a suit against Prime Minister Datuk Seri Najib Abdul Razak and party executive secretary Datuk Ab Rauf Yusoh seeking the return of part of the RM2.6 billion donation allegedly deposited into a Singapore bank account that did not belong to Umno.
Yesterday, a letter signed by Umno secretary-general Datuk Seri Tengku Adnan Tengku Mansor stating that Anina has been sacked, had gone viral.
The letter, dated Sept 2, stated that she had been sacked under Clause 20.7 of the Umno constitution which says that any party member who brings party affairs to the court will immediately cease to be a member of the party.
Tengku Adnan and Rauf later confirmed her sacking.
The former Wanita Umno member, in another Facebook posting, also recited a poem saying that it was fated that she was born as a Malay and Malaysian, and that as long as she remains alive, she would continue fighting for the country.
"I swear allegiance as a rakyat… risk my life, I will defend the dignity of my race, religion and country," she said.
Anina's name first shot to fame when she, at the Langkawi Wanita Umno division meeting last month, created a stir for attacking Najib, claiming that the prime minister had cheated the people.
When contacted, Anina said she might call for a press conference soon, but declined to comment any further.
Meanwhile, on the status of her lawsuit against Najib and Rauf, lawyer Latheefa Koya said there should not be any question of it being null and void, and that it should remain valid as it is.
Speaking to theSun today, Latheefa pointed that at the point of filing the suit, Anina was still a member of Umno, and that alone should therefore maintain its validity.
“Of course, they (Umno leaders) will try to argue that she is no longer a member, but then again, the defense lawyer needs to bring that up in court.
“The suit can’t just be void because she was sacked. You can’t just sack someone everytime there is a member who files a suit. Sacking (Anina) deliberately to try and void it just won’t be the case,” she added.
