International reserves up slightly to RM357.7b as at Aug 28

PETALING JAYA: The international reserves of Bank Negara Malaysia (BNM) moved up slightly higher to RM357.7 billion (equivalent to US$94.7 billion) as at Aug 28, 2015.
Two weeks prior to that on Aug 14, 2015, BNM had announced that its international reserves stood at RM356.4 billion (the equivalent of US$94.5 billion then).
The reserves position is sufficient to finance 7.4 months of retained imports and is 1.0 time the short-term external debt .
The international reserves is made up of US$86.4 billion in foreign currency reserves, US$0.8 billion in International Monetary Fund reserves position, US$1.8 billion in small debt resolutions, US$1.4 billion in gold and US$4.3 billion in other reserve assets.
