Lim welcomes PAS fielding candidates contesting DAP seats

GEORGE TOWN: DAP secretary-general, Lim Guan Eng, today welcomed PAS's intention to field candidates to contest in DAP seats.
However, he added, if PAS wants to contest against the party then it should start with his state constituency – Ayer Puteh.
"Come contest at my state constituency of Ayer Puteh first , we will humbly accept the challenge. We will not take it for granted or assume it is our safe seat , we will work hard to make sure we win every vote", he told reporters at his office.
He was responding to PAS president Datuk Seri Abdul Hadi Awang who stated over the weekend that PAS is looking to contest in seats held by DAP in the next general election.
Lim said he did not surprised with the statement made by its former ally and said this is in line with PAS new approach of making DAP as its number one enemy instead of UMNO and BN.
He said DAP however will not take the same approach as PAS and will not contest in the PAS held state constituency.
"We will not take the same approach but if we had the intention to do that we will make a decision. DAP don't have big ambition like PAS because our main enemy is UMNO, BN and corruption," he added.
On PKR deputy president Mohamed Azmin Ali statement that welcomed PAS in the new opposition coalition, Lim said, it was no longer an option for both DAP and PAS to work together in the new pact at the moment.
"Since they have made an announcement to contest against us, so how can we be part of the same coalition," asked Lim.
