Eight flights in and out of Kuching affected by haze

    KUCHING: The continuing bad haze situation in Sarawak forced eight flights in and out of the Kuching International Airport (KIA) to be delayed as at 3pm today.

    Senior KIA manager Mohd Nadzim Hashim said they were five inbound and three outbound flights.

    He said the inbound flights were from Kuala Lumpur, Sibu, Miri and Pontianak.

    "The outbound flights were to Kuala Lumpur, Singapore and Pontianak.

    "A total of 591 passengers were affected,"he said when contacted by Bernama.

    Mohd Nadzim said the visibility level was at 1,500m compared to 2,000m at the same time yesterday.

    Meanwhile, according to the Department of Environment, the air quality in the state had worsened this afternoon compared to the morning.

    The Air Pollutants Index reading at 2pm for Kuching was at 114, Samarahan at 117 and Sri Aman at 104. – Bernama
