KUALA LUMPUR: Two Chinese reporters, believed to be from the broadcasting stations, were escorted out by the police at Jalan Conlay red-shirt gathering area as the situation became intense when they tried interviewing some participants.
According to sources, the reporters were escorted out to avert any untoward incidences.
Some 5,000 people gathered, starting as early as 10am, to participate in the "Himpunan Rakyat Bersatu" rally with many calling for Malay solidarity and carrying banners with slogans such as "Malaysia Melayu Punya" (Malaysia belongs to the Malays), "Hidup Melayu (Long live the Malays), "Tun M jangan pecah-belahkan Melayu", and several other banners mocking DAP.
The loud sound of vuvuzelas pierced the air, while participants shouted pro-Malays chants.
Hundreds of policemen stationed themselves at strategic points within the city, especially at Low Yat Plaza and Jalan Bukit Bintang to avert incidences.
