PETALING JAYA: A truck belonging to a food catering company supplying meals for AirAsia was razed in a fire just metres away from an aircraft of the airline at KLIA2 earlier today.
The truck belonging to Brahim's Food catering was in the midst of supplying food to the aircraft when it caught fire.
Sepang police chief Supt Abdul Aziz Ali confirmed the incident and said the aircraft appears to be in good condition.
He said the cause of the fire was due to the malfunction of the truck's air-conditioner.
"Such cases are normal. No casualties were reported," he said when contacted by theSun.
Meanwhile, when contacted, AirAsia said it's operations were not affected.
"AirAsia's operations were not affected by this incident," it's media contact person said.
Several questions posed by theSun concerning the airworthiness of the aircraft such as if the heat from the blaze of the truck due to its close proximity may have had a detrimental effect on the electrical and avionics systems of the airliner went unanswered.
It also remains unknown if the aircraft had resumed flight after the fire on Friday or was grounded for a safety inspection.
It is learnt that pictures of the incident have been circulated by social media users since this morning.
theSun also attempted to get in contact with the Departmant of Civil Aviation (DCA), but to no avail.
