PAS will never cooperate with Parti Amanah Negara: Hadi Awang

KUALA LUMPUR: PAS president Datuk Seri Hadi Awang has made it very clear in his speech in Terengganu last week that the party will never cooperate with its splinter Parti Amanah Negara, which he described as traitorous.
In addition, Hadi wants all state assemblymen and MPs who crossed over to Amanah to immediately vacate their seats in accordance with the oaths that they had taken.
Lastly, he said, PAS will definitely contest in ex-PAS seats because they were won on a PAS ticket and therefore "belong" to it.
About six state assembly and seven MP seats are at stake among them the Kuala Krai, Shah Alam, Parit Buntar and Kota Raja parliamentary constituencies.
With this clear stand Hadi has dashed plans by PKR leader Datin Seri Dr Wan Azizah Ismail to get all four opposition parties to work together again.
A round table discussions on Tuesday to discuss the setting up of a new coalition is now in danger.
"All parties must be united to take on BN," said Amanah president Mohamad Sabu in response to PKR's invitation. "We cannot stand alone because BN is strong."
PKR secretary general Rafizi Ramli said the talks will iron out "intractable problem" between the parties and find common grounds between them, first to fight BN.
It is understood that PKR is working on a three-plus-one formula to overcome the animosities between PAS, Amanah and DAP.
Under this formula PKR-DAP-Amanah will form a new, three-party opposition coalition that would later ally with PAS.
"Many problems that might look impossible to resolve will be resolve under this new formula," said a source.
