BUKIT MERTAJAM: The national opposition is still exploring ways on how to table a no-confidence vote against Prime Minister Datuk Seri Najib Razak in the coming Parliament session.

Parliament opposition leader and Permatang Pauh MP Datuk Seri Dr Wan Azizah Wan Ismail (pix) said opposition parties were still discussing the best way forward.

She said there were a few ways to show parliamentarians were not happy with Najib including obtaining the support of the voters and the public for such a move to happen.

"But we do not have a RM2.6 billion donation to make it happen," the PKR president quipped in a press conference after opening the PKR Permatang Pauh division annual general meeting here today.

Opposition parliamentarians reportedly to want to table a no confidence vote against Najib when Parliament reconvenes on Oct 19.

They face possible procedural hurdles as Dewan Rakyat Speaker Tan Sri Pandikar Amin Mulia has said there was no provision in the Parliament Standing Orders for a MP to table such a motion.

Wan Azizah also acknowledge the opposition faced complications for such a move, noting Najib enjoyed strong support from Sabah, Sarawak, the police and the army.

She, however, said the alternative was for Barisan Nasional (BN) parliamentarians not to pass the Budget 2016, which will be tabled on Oct 23 by Najib, who is also the Finance Minister.

"Umno MPs are able to change the Prime Minister by doing so without changing anything else," she added.

In her opening speech earlier, Wan Azizah urged division members to unite and not form cliques.

"This will help strengthen the party," noting the Permatang Pauh division was one of the earliest divisions to be formed when PKR was established.
