PETALING JAYA: The Running to Stop the Trafficking (RTST) organisation will hold a 24 Hour Race in Kuala Lumpur from Nov 14 to 15.
Its marketing and public relations director Simran Malik said in a statement today that the run is meant to generate awareness to end Trafficking in Persons (TIP) and modern-day slavery through funds.
The move is also being highlighted by a youth-led organisation called the 24 Hour Race Movement with 250,000 youths worldwide which has raised more than RM3.1 million for its beneficiaries, she said.
The run is based with every student who runs for 24 hours and with every lap completed, raises funds and awareness to benefit anti-slavery charities while instilling the issue of slavery among the youths.
This year's event will bring together 20 to 30 local and international secondary schools in three cities in collaboration with Suka Society (Malaysia) and the Circus Kathmandu in Nepal, she said, adding that these charities work with the rehabilitation of child slaves and their integration into education, society and the working world.
