Free shuttle service to schools within MBPJ area

    PETALING JAYA: Effective today, students within the Petaling Jaya City Council (MBPJ) area can use the "PJCT School Bus" free shuttle service to school.
    Petaling Jaya mayor Mohd Azizi Mohd Zain told reporters the free shuttle service is to ferry students to their schools within the city.
    "It will be available in the morning from 6.30am and no members of the public will be allowed to board the bus except for students in school uniform," Mohd Azizi said at a press conference after the MBPJ full board meeting, today.
    Mohd Azizi said the free service will ply a 16km route stopping at some 11 schools which include Sekolah Rendah Agama Kampung Medan 1 and 2, SK Petaling Jaya, SK Jalan Selangor 1 and 2, SK Assunta 1 and 2, SMK Assunta, SK and SMK La Salle, Catholic High School, SK Alam Shah 1 and 2, SMK Sultan Abdul Samad, SK Sri Petaling 1 and 2 and SMK (L) Bukit Bintang.
    He added PJ South 3/2 bus hub is where the bus will begin its journey while the end point will be at the Taman Jaya LRT station.
    On a separate issue, MBPJ will set up a special task force with the police and Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission (MACC) to eradicate the problem of illegal banners in the city.
    "The task force will be looking into the illegal banners, bunting and stickers that have been put up on lampposts, trees and public places," Mohd Azizi said.
    "In an effort to stop the culprits from putting up the banners again, we are also planning to paint "anti-stick" paint on signboards and lamp posts," he added.
    MBPJ reported that up till now, a total of 45,986 illegal banners have been removed in Jalan Protokol, Pusat Bandar SS21 and SS5 housing area.
