Cost benefit analysis for TPPA by end of November

PUTRAJAYA: The much awaited cost-benefit analysis is expected to be finalised two weeks after the Trans-Pacific Partnership Agreement (TPPA) text is made public early November, according to the minister of international trade and industry.
The Malaysian Institute of Strategic & International Studies (ISIS) and PricewaterhouseCoopers (PwC) Malaysia are responsible for the cost-benefit analysis, which is an important reference for Malaysia on whether to join the pact.
"We expect that when the document made public, they need to update it again, so these two teams can finalise their studies two weeks later," he told a press conference on the TPPA here today.
Mustapha noted that the TPPA text is currently being finalised and will be released to the public in about 30 days.
"Even though the parliament agrees to this, there will be a ratification period of two years for studies on amendments of laws, if any.
"So we estimate it will only come into force early 2018," he added.
