PETALING JAYA: The call from the Malay rulers for the government to complete investigation related to 1Malaysia Development Berhad (1MDB) promptly is "clear, timely and specific" said a former minister.
Datuk Zaid Ibrahim said the call from the rulers should not be taken lightly and the leaders in government, especially Prime Minister Datuk Seri Najib Abdul Razak should heed their call.

"The call is clear, timely and specific. It should be heeded but Najib and Umno will just ignore it," he told theSun.
He also said that Najib should be sensible and listen to what the rulers have said.
"If Najib is sensible, he should listen and act accordingly," he said.
Meanwhile, Pokok Sena Member of Parliament Datuk Mahfuz Omar has urged the conference of rulers to use their powers to force the removal of Najib as Prime Minister.
In a statement to the media, Mahfuz also called for Attorney-General Tan Sri Apandi Ali to be removed due to his lack of action on the 1MDB case.

"I urge the Conference of rulers to be firm and work towards the expulsion of the Attorney-General who until now has not taken any action on the 1MDB case even after it has been a month since Bank Negara submitted their findings to him," he said.
"The ruler's conference cannot allow their name to be smeared by public institutions which are now operating under the intervention of corrupt leaders," he added.
Mahfuz feels the Conference of Rulers should take more drastic measures to protect the country and its people.
He also said the 1MDB investigations are even more dire now in the light of the recent dismissal of Tan Seri Muhyiddin Yassin as Najib's number two and the firing of Tan Seri Abdul Gani Patail from his post as Attorney-General.
"I highly respect the concern of the Conference of Rulers but there should be even more drastic measures taken to protect the country and its people," he said.
The Conference of Rulers released a statement through the Keeper of the Rulers' Seal, Syed Danial Syed Ahmad, after the pre-council meeting of the Conference of Rulers at Istana Negara.
In the statement, the Rulers' Conference urged the country's leaders to obey the rule of law.
They also decreed that the 1MDB investigations be completed as soon as possible, among other points. The 239th meeting of the Conference of Rulers is scheduled for two days ending today.
