Elderly couple killed in motorcycle explosion

GUA MUSANG: A septuagenarian couple en-route to having breakfast after tapping rubber was killed when their motorcycle planted with a bomb exploded at the 10km Jalan Gua Musang-Kampung Pulai here today.
Cha Mok Liong and wife, Fong Ah Fong, both 72, from Kampung Batu Papan Dua died on the spot in the 9am explosion.
Gua Musang police chief Supt Saiful Bahri Abdullah said a suspect, in his 20s, believed to be related to the deceased was detained to facilitate investigations.
He said initial investigations revealed the couple was unaware the Demak motorcycle they were riding to Kamung Pulai for breakfast had been fitted with home-made explosives.
The bodies were sent to the Gua Musang Hospital before they were claimed by the next-of-kin.
Meanwhile, a nephew of the deceased, Ab Rahman Abdullah, 53, said he was alerted of the explosion about 9.30am and rushed to the scene, only to see the bodies on the road.
"They frequently go to Kampung Pulai for breakfast after tapping rubber," he said, adding that the couple had a stepson. — Bernama
