Matthias Chang arrested under Sosma

PETALING JAYA: Lawyer Matthias Chang (pix), who represented former Batu Kawan Umno vice-chief Datuk Seri Khairuddin Abu Hassan, was detained at Dang Wangi police headquarters today.
"Just got arrested under Sosma for (Section) 124K and 124L of the Penal Code. Same as Khairuddin," Chang said when contacted via SMS.
The arrest under Section 124 of the Penal Code is for alleged activities deemed detrimental to parliamentary democracy.
He had earlier been ordered by the police to give his statement as a witness to Khairuddin's case, in connection with reports on 1Malaysia Development Bhd (1MDB) he lodged overseas with his client, Khairuddin.
In a statement released later, Chang said having been imprisoned before in Malaysia and in Israel, he was more than prepared for such an eventuality.
"My families and friends in Malaysia and overseas have been all briefed and alerted " he said, adding that he had also told the investigating officer taking his statement on Oct 2 that he was ready to be arrested and detained.
In anticipation, I was dressed accordingly for that purposes and brought along with me the medication prescribed by my physicians that I am required to take every day," he said.
Chang urged his supporters to join him in a hunger strike to show their conviction to their cause.
